Character: Builder
This clothing belongs to the worker unit of Abyss Lab. They are charged with building rooms and expending the bunker.
Character Design
Main goal was that the player would be able to distinguish worker units from others. This was achieved by the color palette. The main colors are orange, a blueish grey and brown. Especially the orange tone is exclusively used for this unit and will not be repeated anywhere else.
While created the design I felt like it would make sense to use blocky shapes, as this character is all about building and craft. Since rectangle shapes rather gave me a feeling of being old-fashioned and conservative, I combined them with trapezoid ones. Since this unit is working physically I took some inspirations from safety worker clothings and tried to modernize them. This resulted in the brown areas around the neck, knee and ellbows. You might have noticed that these differ from the sketch to the right - I made this change based on community feedback. |
